Stonewall DFL friends and supporters,
Where does the time go? Already, we
are in the middle of our endorsement and screening process. It seems
like we just elected a whole bunch of people, yet already we find
ourselves looking to the future.
Perhaps one of the things that this
year's board of directors can be most proud of is having a vision
for the future while being mindful of our past. As we embark upon
the task of selecting the candidates we feel best fit Stonewall
DFL's ideals, many of us are keeping our eyes on the future but
remembering the things in our recent past that we could have done
better. Early on, it appears to be working.
At our January Board meeting, the
following early endorsements were granted for the individuals listed
below in the respective races noted:
MN Attorney General - Matt Entenza
MN Senate (60) - Scott Dibble
MN Senate (62) - Wes Skoglund
MN House of Representatives (62A) -
Jim Davnie
MN House of Representatives (59A) -
Diane Loeffler
MN House of Representatives (60B) -
Frank Hornstein
Hennepin County Commissioner - Peter
McLaughlin
In order to be considered for "early
endorsement", each of the candidates had to meet certain
requirements including having completed a candidate questionnaire
and they must have been screened and endorsed by Stonewall DFL in
the past for the same office.
We encourage all members of Stonewall
to attend our
2006 Candidate Screening Convention
this Sunday January 28 from 1 pm - 6:00 pm at the Hennepin County
Government Center - Lower Auditorium. Screenings will be held at
varying times until 4 pm. The business of the convention will begin
at approximately 4 pm. Come and spend the day listening to
candidates and stay for the membership votes during the convention.
(Your votes will be presented to the Board of Directors for
ratification at the February 12th meeting.
We look forward to seeing you all at
the Candidate Screening Convention!
With GLBT and DFL Pride,

Welcome New Board Member
At
out January meeting, the Board of Directors vote to approve Stella
Coker to the position of Director At Large to fill one of our
openings on the board. Stella showed her willingness to roll up
her sleeve from the first day that many of us met her (at our
October fundraiser) where she welcomed all of the guests. We look
forward to working with Stella in the coming months.

Affirmative Action Statement:
The
goal of affirmative action is to recruit individuals for political
activity in the DFL and the Democratic process of our government.
The DFL is an active participant in the struggle to end all forms
of bigotry and discrimination. As part of our commitment to ending
discrimination, we seek to increase the participation of members
of those communities that have been traditionally shut out of
and/or underrepresented in the political process. As part of this
commitment, we will seek to elect members of these communities to
positions both within the DFL Party and in public office. These
efforts will be directed toward all underrepresented communities.
